About the Film

Outsider. Freud is a 66-minute creative documentary by filmmaker Yair Qedar, exploring the life, work and legacy of Sigmund Freud through the lens of marginalisation, identity and exile. Moving across four acts, the film brings together rare archival material, letters, animation, dreams and reflections from leading psychoanalysts and Freud scholars. It looks beyond the familiar portrait of Freud as the founder of psychoanalysis, turning instead towards the man behind the theory: a Jewish intellectual in Vienna, an outsider to the establishment, and eventually a refugee whose ideas would transform how we understand the human mind.

Following the screening, Yair Qedar will join the audience for a live Q&A, offering an opportunity to engage directly with the filmmaker about Freud, the making of the film, and the questions it leaves open.
